1. Scope
These terms apply to sponsorships and donations made via shieldofdogs.at to Shield of Dogs – Verein zur Hunderettung (register number ZVR 1385603213, Prechtlerstraße 7/1/1, 4030 Linz, Austria).
2. What a sponsorship is
With a sponsorship you support a specific dog with a monthly contribution, for example for food, veterinary care and accommodation. A sponsorship is voluntary support without anything in return. It does not create ownership of the dog, any right to adopt it, or any say in decisions about its care or placement.
3. Amount and full or partial sponsorship
For each dog we show the monthly need and the amount still open. You can take over the entire open amount (full sponsorship) or part of it from €5 per month (partial sponsorship). If less than €5 is open, the minimum equals the open amount.
4. Payment
- PayPal: monthly PayPal subscription.
- Mollie: credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or SEPA direct debit; the first amount is charged immediately and subsequent amounts are collected automatically every month.
- Bank transfer / standing order to the association account named in the legal notice.
The sponsorship begins as soon as the first payment has been received or confirmed. You will then receive a confirmation by email and your sponsorship certificate.
5. Term and cancellation
The sponsorship runs for an indefinite period and can be ended at any time without notice and without giving reasons – via your personal sponsor portal (request the link on the contact page) or by email to info@shieldofdogs.at.
- We stop Mollie payments when you cancel.
- We end PayPal subscriptions; to be safe, you can also cancel it yourself in PayPal.
- You need to delete a standing order with your bank yourself.
Contributions already made are not refunded, as they are used continuously for the dogs’ care. Amounts charged twice by mistake or after cancellation will of course be refunded.
6. End on adoption or death of the dog
If your sponsored dog finds a home, the sponsorship ends automatically. We stop ongoing payments via PayPal and Mollie, inform you by email and would be delighted if you supported another dog.
If a dog dies or is no longer cared for by the association for other reasons, the sponsorship also ends. We stop ongoing payments and inform you personally.
7. Use of contributions
We use sponsorship contributions for the care of the chosen dog. The sponsorship ends when the dog is adopted (section 6); no further contributions are collected from then on.
8. Donations
One-off donations can be made by bank transfer, PayPal, Mollie or via Teaming. Donations are voluntary and without anything in return; they are used for the association’s purpose (animal welfare, care and placement of dogs in need). Earmarked donations (e.g. for building the shelter) are used for that purpose. Donations via Teaming are additionally subject to Teaming’s terms.
We issue a donation receipt on request.
9. Withdrawal
As sponsorships and donations are gratuitous contributions without anything in return, the statutory right of withdrawal for distance contracts (Austrian FAGG) does not apply. You can, however, end a sponsorship at any time (section 5). For SEPA direct debits you additionally have the right to reclaim a debit through your bank within 8 weeks.
10. Name and sponsor photo
We only show your first name and a photo if you have given separate consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time. Details are in the privacy policy.
11. Final provisions
Austrian law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions and statutory places of jurisdiction for consumers remain unaffected. We may amend these terms for future sponsorships and donations; we will inform you by email in advance about changes affecting ongoing sponsorships.
